statement
My process is a mixture of intimate planning and visceral spontaneity. I enjoy oil paint for its vibrant possibilities and sculptural qualities; I enjoy pen and ink for its immediacy and call-back to childhood drawing; I enjoy both for their necessary call for patience and total immersion in the tactile realm.
My work explores ancestral legend, folklore, nature, mysticism, and personal experience. I am fascinated by the many roles women take in folklore, and I examine how storytelling and archetypes can be means of strength, survival, and truth. I am always learning and I find creating to be an ever-changing study of the narratives, people, and places around me.
